History
Lizzie's Place is a family owned and run business, based in Brisbane Australia, and Yogyakarta (Yogya) Indonesia. Lizzie's Place has its own factory, run by Lizzie's daughter Maria, in Yogya. Manufacturing is outsourced to suppliers, which is done in the Kampongs (villages), and brought into the factory when completed. Our staff at LP Yogya inspect each piece, complete final carpentry work, then finish each piece using a combination of shellac and stain, in a variety of colour finishes. Due to the family connection in Yogya, Lizzie's Place can offer customers the opportunity to custom order pieces in particular colour finishes and door styles, based on catalogue items. Who's Who Lizzie's Place in Brisbane is run by Mother and Daughter team Lizzie and Veronica. Lizzie's husband Tony constantly travels worldwide, selling containers of furniture to the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia & New Zealand. Tony also looks after purchasing great promotional lines for Lizzie's Place. Lizzie's Place is staffed by an extended family. Each person has been hand-picked by Lizzie, and contributes to a great team atmosphere, and all share a love of solid timber hand made furniture. Our South Brisbane LiZZiES sales team consists of Lizzie and Veronica, which between them have many years of retail experience and customer liaison skills. Our behind-the-scenes team who are responsible for the finish of the pieces you see on the floor, consists of Sharon our Logistics person and finishing expert, Carpenters John and Ron, who wax the furniture and make it beautiful. Our LiZZiES Place Lawnton staff include our Manager Tania who worked at our South Brisbane LiZZiES for two years before Opening our fabulous new Lawnton LiZZiES, our Bill - full time logistics and fantastic "Mr Fix it", our friendly sales staff member, and Floral/Decorator expert Libby. And last but not least Brad who is our finishing expert. Each piece is inspected and totally waxed by our staff inside and out to ensure it reaches the customer in its best condition. Timber Furniture Guarantee When you buy a piece of teak or mahogany furniture from us, you are buying an antique of the future. We guarantee that each piece is hand-made in solid timber. Please note that movement is to be expected in all timber furniture (excluding chipboard and manufactured timbers), including our furniture. All timbers will expand and contract with climate conditions. As the timber we use is forest-friendly plantation timber it is quite young, therefore the panels of timber are not wide, and most times a couple of pieces of timber make up each top, side, base, drawers and shelves. (Please note, rainforest timber is old and therefore panels used from rainforest timber would be much larger - and much more expensive!). When the timber shrinks, as a result of dry climate conditions, these panels may split apart and leave a gap. We guarantee that this movement will not interfere with the functionality of the piece, ie. your TV Cabinet will still function very well as a TV Cabinet, whether it has movement or not. An example of timber movement is timber flooring and walls - as you are aware in winter they creak and groan - this is a result of the boards shrinking. Another example is antique pieces of furniture. They can be over 100 years old and still split, even though the timber has had over 100 years to dry out! Please consult our separate sheet of care instructions. If these are followed you will minimise your potential movement. Please remember, it is up to you to learn how to care for your furniture, to get the maximum life span out of it .Our educated and multiskilled staff are always happy to give extra tips and demonstrations on care techniques so please don't hesitate to ask. We guarantee that you will not have any imported live Indonesian pests in your furniture, as we fumigate twice - once in
Indonesia prior to departure, and once in Australia. We are only required by Australian law to do this once in Indonesia,
but for the peace of mind of our customers and ourselves, we choose to do this twice. Please be aware however that
after some time, local (Australian) pests may infest your timber furniture, as the fumigation has a limited lifespan. This is
a matter in which AQIS (Australian Quarantine Inspection Service) is very interested, as there is a need to track the
source of any timber infestation. Our social responsibility
